Make a puzzle your way

  1. Start with your words. Choose English, Arabic, French, German or Dutch. Sample lists change immediately with the language and theme. Enter one custom word or phrase per line.
  2. Choose the challenge. Set 5–40 rows and columns and forward, diagonal or all eight directions. Forward runs leftward for Arabic and rightward for Latin languages. Every accepted word must fit.
  3. Style the grid. Set the image dimensions, grid line thickness, outer corners and font. The preview updates automatically. Appearance changes preserve the letters and word placements.
  4. Copy or save just the grid. Switch to Answer key to inspect placements, then copy the image or save PNG or SVG. The exported artwork contains only the letter grid, with no title or word list.

Artwork ready to use

Use larger letters and forward directions for beginners. Add diagonals and reverse words for a stronger challenge. Increase image dimensions when using many rows. Keep the word list separately when placing the grid in a worksheet.

Set exact image width and height in pixels, inches, centimetres or millimetres. PNG uses 300 DPI. SVG embeds the selected fonts and retains physical dimensions; support for embedded fonts varies between design editors.

A few useful answers

Which languages are supported?

English, Arabic, French, German (Deutsch) and Dutch (Nederlands). Puzzle language is independent of the English or Arabic website interface.

What happens when I change the language?

The current sample theme switches to the new language immediately. Custom lists are remembered separately for each language during this page session, so switching back restores your edits.

Are accents and Arabic letters preserved?

French and Dutch accents are kept. German Ä, Ö, Ü and ẞ occupy separate cells; ß becomes ẞ. Arabic vowel marks and tatweel are removed visibly, while أ/إ/آ, ي/ى and ه/ة remain distinct.

Will every word be included?

A successful puzzle contains every accepted word. If the full list cannot fit within the bounded search, a clear error appears and your editable list remains. Spaces, hyphens and apostrophes are removed with a spelling review; duplicates must be corrected.

Does the image include the word list?

The preview and saved image contain only the grid. Answer key highlights the recorded placements and marks each word’s start. Keep your word list separately in your own layout.

How do Google Fonts work?

Local fonts are the default. Selecting a Google Font downloads that family’s font files; only the family and style are requested, never your words. PNG uses the loaded font and SVG embeds the font files and their licenses.

Is my word list private?

Your words, settings and generated images stay in the browser. There is no puzzle-processing API. Optional analytics require consent and receive fixed tool and format identifiers only.

Can random filler make extra words?

Yes. Requested placements are guaranteed on success, but random letters can create extra matches or unintended words. Review the grid before using it with a class or publishing it.
