Make a puzzle your way
- Choose your maze. Pick a rectangle or circle, then adjust complexity, rows and columns or rings. The preview updates automatically.
- Shape the artwork. Set image width and height, wall thickness and corners. Road width changes the image dimensions while keeping the grid counts. Doors follow the clear road width automatically.
- Place the doors and pictures. Open the Start or Finish picker and drag either marker to an opening or the center. Add arrows and reserve illustration spaces for your own images. Door openings always match the adjoining roads.
- Copy or save the image. Copy the selected view, save a 300 DPI PNG, or download a vector SVG. The artwork contains the maze with any arrows and illustrations you enabled.
Artwork ready to use
Choose wider corridors for younger solvers. For dense mazes, increase the image dimensions or use fewer cells. The preview and saved image share the same dimensions and line settings.
Exports contain the maze itself, without a worksheet title, footer or page border. Place the image in your own lesson, design or book layout. PNG uses 300 DPI; SVG keeps a physical size and editable vector paths.
A few useful answers
Is the maze generator free?
Yes. Create, copy and save puzzles without an account, watermark or payment.
Are circular mazes really circular?
Yes. Their cells follow concentric rings and radial passages. The solution follows those passages without crossing walls. Width and height stay linked in circular mode.
Does every maze have a solution?
Every cell is connected in a tree, giving exactly one route between the selected start and finish. The answer key is solved from those same passages.
Can I add my own illustrations?
Rectangular mazes support blank start/finish spaces and center goals. Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP to fit inside a space. Images stay on your device and are included in PNG/SVG exports. Spaces change the maze layout; a successful result remains connected and solvable.
Does changing line thickness create a different maze?
Appearance changes keep the existing layout. Moving a door or changing illustration spaces updates the maze. Change the seed or choose New puzzle for a fresh layout.
Which image formats are available?
Copy image puts a PNG on the clipboard where supported. Save PNG produces a lossless 300 DPI image. SVG preserves vector lines. Both save the currently selected puzzle or answer view.
Are my puzzles uploaded?
Generation, solving, rendering and image exports run in your browser. The maze tool uses local assets and does not upload puzzle settings.
Can I use a maze in a book?
You can place the generated artwork in worksheets and books. Check your assembled layout and a paper proof before publishing.
